What You’ll Do
Here at Gabb, we are passionate about creating safe tech for kids. However, we are equally as passionate about empowering parents while they parent in this digital age. The Gabb Family team is innovating a new, central, revamped application where parents can manage their account, their children’s devices, and be the portal to all things Gabb.
We are looking for an Junior Android Developer to join our team and help us build our Gabb Family application. In this position, you will be instrumental in rewriting features from the old app into the new as well as writing all new functionality. As the ideal candidate, you should be passionate about building reliable, intuitive, and beautiful experiences for end users. Your responsibilities on the team will include:
- Collaborate with teams to define, design, and ship new features
- Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies for efficiency
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with other developers
- Optimize performance, troubleshoot bugs, and fix issues
- Maintain code integrity through version control and documentation
- Stay updated on Android platform changes and industry trends
- Translate requirements into technical solutions with product teams
What You'll Bring
- 1-2 years of Android development experience
- Proficient in Jetpack Compose for declarative UI development
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related emphasis preferred
- Skilled in Android Studio for development and debugging purposes
- Well-versed in Kotlin, with fluency in coroutines
- Experience with MVVM and Dependency Injection using Hilt or Dagger
- Familiarity with Google Maps API, Android Bluetooth APIs, and RESTful APIs
- Competency in GitLab or Bitbucket for version control
- Exposure to Firebase for backend service utilization
- Ability to write and execute unit tests using JUnit and Mockito
