HDW’s Technology Team
- We are an internet product company building exciting games/game formats for multi-million users, who are highly engaged with the games that we publish. The games are delivered on Android, iOS & Web(React.Js/phaser) platforms powered by a game engine and a seamless platform. We take pride in the smooth UI, ability to handle high concurrency with near-single-digit millisecond latencies. Ours is a hybrid platform with computes running on both on-prem and in the cloud. We have plethora of serverless functions and microservices built either on NodeJs or Java. We use web sockets & messaging services to power game interactions at a real-time basis. During peak hours we experience many multiples of load seen from off-peak hours and our application & infrastructure is tuned to handle the loads optimally. Our systems generate many gigabytes of data everyday which is fed to our analytics engine for generating actionable insights. Our current game offerings are rummy, poker, carrom, pool & fantasy sports and we want to add game formats that would be highly engaging to gamers. Our goal is to offer the best experience possible, constantly raising the bar higher for performance, scalability, reusability, security as we move.
Responsibilities
- Technical Vision: Develop a clear plan for the mobile engineering department, outlining the direction and goals in alignment with the company's overall vision and objectives.
- Platform Strategy: Contribute to developing, communicating, and executing a long-term platform engineering strategy aligned with the company's goals.
- Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of skilled mobile engineers and managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align development efforts with overall company goals.
- Project Oversight: Oversee planning, execution, and timely delivery of committed initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Innovation and Experimentation: Encourage innovation and experimentation, fostering a culture that values creative solutions to complex problems.
- Solution Delivery: Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineering teams to deliver seamless, integrated solutions.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership, providing regular updates on project status, challenges, and milestones.
- Skill Building and Enablement: Enhance skill acquisition and enablement across the organization through immersive, collaborative, outcome-driven engagements.
- App Performance Improvement: Lead efforts to improve app performance, aiming for each page load to be below 1000 milliseconds.
- Methodology Implementation: Define and implement best practices for app submission to the store and adopt agile and scrum methodologies.
- Tech Stack Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate tech stacks based on feature nature, business goals, and team capabilities.
- Business Alignment: Understand business goals and mentor the team accordingly to ensure alignment.
- Ownership: Own end-to-end responsibilities of building features and/or launching new apps to the store(s)
- Performance Reviews: Conduct performance reviews of senior team members.
- Manage the manpower budget and participate in hiring decisions for the building team
Skills Required
- 18+ years of software Engineering experience, with a focus on B2C/product in the past 5 years
- Proven experience in mobile platform engineering, with at least 6 years in leadership roles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, documentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align technical strategies with business objectives.
- Proven experience in Android and iOS development, with at least 8 years of experience.
- Experience in competitive analysis and tracking key parameters for mobile applications.
- Experience in hybrid mobile application development and web apps like ReactJS.
- Knowledge of Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Flutter, and experience in performance improvement.
- Experience in defining standards for mobile design, designing complex mobile applications, and working with design patterns.
- Experience in building reusable components and using code optimization tools like Sonar.
- Established CI/CD process within the team.
- Possessing strong analytical and troubleshooting skills empowers professionals to think critically and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in developing rich user interfaces with minimal latency updates/refreshes.
- Solid understanding and experience of networking protocols and their nuances to build low latency apps.
- Working with 3rd party integrations like payment gateways, analytics tools etc
- Good understanding of material design concepts
- Strong experience in hiring and building teams with strong talent.
