About the team: 

You will work with slice's engineering team. We're currently a team of 70 and are looking to grow two-fold in the coming months. As a typical startup, we have classic 0-1 problems to solve. We have problems galore, and want folks who can roll up their sleeves and are up for a challenge.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Android developer to join our technology team. If you have excellent software design and programming skills and a passion for developing applications or improving existing ones, we would like to meet you.

What You will do

  • As an SDE - I (Android) you could expect to: 
  • Work closely with the Product, UX/UI and Backend teams to do requirement analysis, design, build and release consumer facing features 

  • Build re-usable Android software components for the platform 

  • Collaborate with QA on continuous integration and delivery to make sure our app releases are always worthy of five-star ratings 

  • Monitor the performance of the live apps and continuously improve them on both code and experience level 

  • Raise the bar by reviewing each other's code, share knowledge, tips and tricks, and generally help out - within and across teams 

  • Evaluate new mobile methodologies and technologies and share your findings with your team to incorporate

Qualifications

What you will need 

  • 3+ Years of experience in developing android applications

  • Experience in defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs.

  • Have experience with common Android libraries like Retrofit, OkHttp, Picasso, RxJava, Gson, Arch-components etc.

  • Debugging skills, including identifying memory leaks, performance bottlenecks, and using tools like adb, proguard, etc

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or master’s degree in Computer Science (or relevant equivalent)

  • Excellent command over Data Structures and Algorithms.

  • Understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability

  • Have an understanding of OOP, different architectural patterns (esp. MVVM) and their Testability

  • Have published two or more Android apps in the play store.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment and project management tool like Jira

  • Familiar with Material Design guidelines, common mobile UX patterns, and anti-patterns
